Aristeidis Katsanos

Aristeidis obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Ioannina, School of Medicine, Ioannina, Greece and completed his training in Neurology at the University of Ioannina and at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He completed his PhD thesis at the Department of Neurology, University of Ioannina, investigating the contribution of transesophageal echocardiography in the diagnostic work-up of patients with stroke. After the completion of his PhD thesis and training in Neurology he was granted a 6-month European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Research Fellowship at the Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany and afterwards he commenced a 2-year stroke fellowship at the Division of Neurology at McMaster University. His research focuses on emerging neurosonology applications and the evidence-based evaluation of novel therapies in acute stroke treatment and secondary stroke prevention. He serves as the Co-PI of two phase 2 randomized controlled clinical trials evaluating optimal blood pressure control after endovascular thrombectomy (DETECT; NCT04484350) and the use of colchicine for the prevention of vascular events after an acute intracerebral hemorrhage (CoVasc-ICH; NCT05159219).
